Originally from ticket #12334.
I just purchased 3 - 12" truelumen pro strips for my 34g red sea max 130 (1-deep water blue, 1-marine fusion, 1-12000k, (don't really know if thats a good daylight to actinic ratio for lps and zoas.)) I plan on mounting them by adhesive and/or screws to the inside of the RSM hood. Seeing as they are completely water resistant, will possible minor splashing or moisture affect either the strips or the daisy chaining connectors? Any special installation instructions I need to follow for concealing connectors or wiring? Just want to be safe and not damage the strips.
Thank you for contacting Current-USA, Inc. Although they are water resistant, we do not recommend getting them wet or keeping them in a moist environment for a long time (especially the connectors.) The heat sink is manufactured from aluminum, so moisture will pit over time and eventually destroy the LEDs. As long as they are under the enclosed plastic lens of the RSM, you should be fine.
